It Begins Again

I haven't written since June. Okay, that's not entirely true. I wrote a novel in November for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month - appropriately named, no? And of course, there's all the papers I've written this semester. Anyway, I haven't written a blog post since I returned from France in July. What have I been doing, you might be asking? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Besides school, Bible study, living life. The usual. I throw moments of being awesome in the mix. You know, for good measure.

So, I thought I would write about something that is near and dear to my heart tonight: November. Now, I do know it's currently December. It took me a few days to figure that out, but I've got it now. Anyway, it's December, but I'm going to reminisce to a few days prior to the current one. I can currently think of 4 solid reasons why I love November.

1) The Novembeard. I love facial hair. All types of facial hair. And because someone was particularly more awesome than me, they thought up the idea of "No Shave November". During this event, men everywhere (even though who's are less than qualified) quit shaving their faces for a month. It's wonderful. And because I love the facial hair so much, I thought I would count down my favorite types for you. Only the top 4 though. Because 4 seems like the number of night.

In the humble place of fourth, we have the full beard. Keep 'em trimmed nicely, boys.

Coming in third, we have the chops. Or mutton chops to be more specific. Bring the 18th century to the present and showing other men how much more profound your cheeks actually are. Made famous by Wolverine.

Second: the goatee. Unless you're predisposed to look like a creepy or violent man. Then don't do it. That will just aggravate your situation.

I think it'd be lovely to have honorable mention at this point. You know, keep you guessing about our winner. Some HM love goes to the Tom Selleck mustache. But only if you're Tom Selleck.

And the winner is: the sideburns.

And the beauty of No Shave November is that all of these four are possible after a month's worth of growth. At least for some men. Moving on...

2) NaNoWriMo I love to write. Journaling, blogging, scribbling thoughts down on post-it. I just love to do it. And this gets me going quite nicely :)

3) Thanksgiving Eating ridiculous amounts of food: turkey, mashed potatoes, noodles, rolls, pie, pie, pie. AHHHHHHHH! So much discomfort afterward. Totally worth every bite.

4) Church I started attending my current church (Hope Community Church) in November. Random fact but significant nonetheless.

Well. That's all I have for now. There are probably countless other reasons to love this month. Hmmm. I miss it already. Alas, it is time to acquire some sort of sustenance. I went shopping recently, so I'm not longer living on white rice and tea (I swear, I'm not Asian...)

Love.
